Accelerated Mobile Pages Project by Google: the revolution of web.
On October 2015, Google announced Accelerated Mobile Pages because smartphones and tablets revolutionized web. The main purpose of Google is to allow mobile users to get easy and immediate access to information.
We all speak about user experience and average load time but every time a webpage takes too long to load, and the website owner lose a reader and the opportunity to earn revenue or leads. When the pages load so slowly, the people abandon them entirely, they lose attention and go away.
Google told: “We want webpages with rich content like video, animations and graphics to work alongside smart ads, and to load instantaneously. We also want the same code to work across multiple platforms and devices so that content can appear everywhere in an instant—no matter what type of phone, tablet or mobile device you’re using”.
The project is based on AMP HTML, a new open framework built entirely out of existing web technologies, which allows websites to build light-weight webpages.
Next features that will be improved with Accelerated Mobile Pages:
- Contents like image carousels, maps, social plug-ins, data visualizations, and videos to make stories more interactive and stand out. Also ads and analytics. The initial technical specification is being released on GitHub;
- Distribution, that means distribution across all kinds of devices and platforms. Google opens its cache servers to be used by anyone free of charge;
- Advertising to support a comprehensive range of ad formats, ad networks and technologies. It’s also a core goal of the project to support subscriptions and paywalls.
This collaboration starts with big players in mobile experience like Twitter, LinkedIn and WordPress. etc.
Instead of implementing Accelerated Mobile Pages code in Chrome web browser (and giving this implementation to other browsers), Google decides to share the new HTML code for developers. If you want to improve performance of your website using AMP HTML code, here the official link.
This is the interesting demo they created for mobile, check it!
We suggest you to monitor AMP because there are no way to forecast if this will be the new frontier of mobile or not.
Our personal thought is that it is not esthetically cool but essential; as we can see in Star Wars film, it is not important apperance but speed, and Millenium Falcon was the faster spaceship in the galaxy even if not the most beautiful..
May the loading speed be with you 🙂
Happy web year!
